About this event
Paddle Plan
Be ready for the 10 a.m. launch from Satanka Bay on the north end of Horsetooth Reservoir. We will explore the bays along the right-hand side to avoid most motor boat traffic. We will take a break at or near the boat-in camp sites 9 and 10, where you can hike up into Lory State Park via the East Valley Trail if you wish. Expect to paddle at least 6 miles. Overachievers may paddle the whole reservoir and cover up to 12 miles, but please do not go alone. Let Leslie know your plan when we take our break. Cell phone coverage is spotty.
During the Paddle
A few of us may compare notes on Greenland Paddle techniques. If you have a Greenland, please bring it. You can use it or share if you prefer the European style.
After the Paddle
After the paddle, all are invited to go to Leslie's place on Kirkwood in the Parkwood subdivision, just off LeMay and near Drake. It is short drive (8.4 miles) from Horsetooth. We will have a spring-time light supper of some sort outside/inside depending on the afternoon thunderstorms. Exact address provided at the paddle.
OR, if the group is more adventurous, we can drive around Horsetooth to the south side and up Buckhorn, four miles past Masonville and then two miles up Big Bear Road to eat at Leslie's place in the foothills. The cabin burned down, but there is a nice metal deck and picnic table and restroom in the trailer.
Send an email to Leslie with your preference.
